BCCR Project

The development of a standardized manner of data collection (patient information), together with a comprehensive plan for registering all Breast Cancer cases and collecting data on individuals at high risk of developing Breast Cancer, are fundamental needs as we strive to achieve a better knowledge of this disease.

From the information technology (IT) point-of-view, the problem of efficiently collecting, sharing, mining and analyzing the wealth of information available in a growing set of the clinical data has common roots with enterprise and the research and development (R&D) of businesses. The use of a Multi-Tier Web-based approach, On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) and Data Mining (DM) technologies, which in recent years has proven to be very efficient for business activities, can also dramatically redefine the way in which clinical research can be conducted in the Internet era.
